That aspiration presented difficulties. One has to be able to communicate effectively when six musicians are in a room simultaneously giving their creative input. I quickly learned how to present my ideas in a helpful way toward the end goal for the song, as well as how to give constructive criticism if I felt something wasn't working quite right. We were determined to write as equals.

During my time in the band I helped write the second full length album called Welcome You. It was the follow up album to the band's debut album which received minor but notable success. We were in a period of reinventing ourselves and our goal was to have this second album be a democratic process in which everyone had equal creative input.

Although it was tough at times and took several years to complete, we finally finished our record. We came out of the entire process with a greater appreciation for, and understanding of, collaboration and working as a team. I personally became a much more effective communicator and teammate after this experience. Here is a link to our finished album for those whose interest I've piqued.
